Reporting & Analytics in Simple Affiliate

Simple Affiliate · September 17, 2026

Analytics is the Simple Affiliate reporting area. Use it to see how referrals, sales, and commission performed in a date range, which affiliates and groups drove that result, and how new customers compare with returning customers.

This article covers the Overview and Sales reports. Sales is the affiliate-level report. A separate Sales (legacy) tab still shows the previous sales chart.

Availability: The Sales report is available on every plan, including Starter. Overview is available on paid plans (Basic, Pro, Premium, and Enterprise). On Starter, the Overview tab is visible and disabled.

1. How to open Analytics

  1. In Simple Affiliate, go to Analytics.
  2. Select Overview or Sales.

Both reports default to Last 90 days. Change Date to another preset, or choose Custom and enter starting and ending dates. Presets include today, yesterday, last 7 / 30 / 90 days, last month, last year, week to date, month to date, year to date, and all time.

When a prior period of equal length exists, KPI cards show variance against that window. Click the variance to toggle between percent change and absolute change. All time has no comparison period, so variance is hidden.

2. Overview

Overview is a program-wide snapshot for the selected date range. It does not filter by affiliate, group, or discount code. Use it to see totals, mix, and which affiliates moved the most versus the prior period.

Overview report with KPI cards, sales over time, top 5 affiliates by sales, biggest gainers, and needs attention

The page includes:

  • KPI cards: Referrals, Sales, Commission, Payout, Average order amount, New customer share, Average commission rate, and Customer acquisition cost. See KPI cards below for each value and calculation.
  • Sales over time: Net sales from confirmed referrals, split by first-time and returning customers. A previous-period line compares an equal-length window when available.
  • Top 5 affiliates by sales: Highest net sales in the range, split by first-time and returning customers.
  • Biggest gainers: Affiliates with the largest increase in net sales versus the prior period of equal length.
  • Needs attention: Affiliates with the largest decrease in net sales versus the prior period of equal length.

Three mix charts sit below the bars:

  • New vs returning customer sales: Share of net sales from first-time customers versus returning customers.
  • Sales by group: Net sales by affiliate group. Smaller groups can combine into Other. Affiliates with no group appear as Ungrouped.
  • Referral method: Confirmed referrals by method, such as Link, Code, Manual, Customer, and Product.
Overview heatmap of sales for top products by top affiliates, with a Total column

Sales: top products × top affiliates is a heatmap of product net sales attributed to each of the top affiliates in the range. Each cell is that product's net sales for that affiliate. The Total column is each product's net sales across all affiliates, not only the five shown.

3. Sales

Sales is the affiliate-level report. Totals, charts, and the table follow the date range and the filters you apply. Use it to compare affiliates, inspect mix, and download a CSV.

Filters and settings

  • Date: The window used for referrals, sales, commission, and the other KPI cards. Defaults to Last 90 days.
  • Group: Limit the report to one or more groups, or leave All groups.
  • Affiliate: Search by affiliate name, email, or discount code.
  • Add filter > Affiliate status: Active (default) lists affiliates with positive net sales in the range. Inactive lists active affiliates with zero net sales in the range. All lists every active affiliate, including those with no sales in the range. This also changes the first KPI card label and who is counted there.
  • Add filter > Discount code: Limit the table and totals to a specific code.
  • Add filter > Last referral: Limit affiliates by when their last confirmed referral occurred.

The chart uses Report type and Plot type. Report type options are Sales (net sales over time, split by first-time and returning customers), Affiliate sales (sales by affiliate), Commission (commission earned and payouts over time), Referrals (confirmed referrals over time, split by first-time and returning customers), and Referral type (confirmed referrals over time, split by referral method). Plot type is Sum per period or Cumulative. Referral type also offers sales variants of those plots.

Sales report affiliate table with rows selected and the Export to CSV button

Affiliate table

The table lists one row per affiliate that matches your filters. Columns are Affiliate, Group, Code, Referrals, 1st-time customer, New customer sales, Sales, and Commission. Click a column header to sort. Open an affiliate, group, or code name for actions such as viewing affiliate details or filtering the report to that row.

To download the list, select affiliates (or Select all) and click Export to CSV. Step-by-step instructions, including every CSV column, are in How to export affiliate data.

4. KPI cards

KPI cards sit at the top of Overview and Sales. Values are for the selected date range. On Sales, they also follow group, affiliate, status, discount code, and last-referral filters. Unless noted, money figures are net amounts from confirmed referrals. Percentages on the cards use one decimal place. A card shows an em dash when its formula cannot be calculated, for example when there are no referrals or no new customers in the range.

Cards on Overview

  • Referrals: Number of confirmed referrals in the selected period.
  • Sales: Total net sales from confirmed referrals in the selected period.
  • Commission: Total commission earned from confirmed referrals in the selected period.
  • Payout: Total amount paid to affiliates in the selected period, including manual payments and Autopay transfers. Payout is based on payment dates, not referral dates.
  • Average order amount: Net sales divided by referrals in the selected period.
  • New customer share: New-customer net sales divided by net sales in the selected period. This is a sales mix, not a referral count.
  • Average commission rate: Commission divided by net sales in the selected period.
  • Customer acquisition cost: Commission divided by new customers in the selected period.

Cards on Sales

  • Actively earning (default): Count of active affiliates with positive net sales in the selected period. The label and the count change with Affiliate status: Inactive affiliates counts active affiliates with zero net sales in the period; Affiliates counts every active affiliate regardless of sales.
  • 1st-time customers: First-time customers divided by confirmed referrals in the selected period. This is a referral mix. It is not the same as Overview's New customer share, which uses sales rather than referral counts.
  • Referrals: Number of confirmed referrals in the selected period (same calculation as Overview, limited to the current Sales filters).
  • Avg commission rate: Commission divided by affiliate sales in the selected period (same calculation as Overview's Average commission rate).
  • Average order value: Sales divided by confirmed referrals in the selected period (same calculation as Overview's Average order amount).
  • New customer sales: Net sales from new-customer referrals in the selected period.
  • Sales: Total net sales from confirmed referrals in the selected period (same calculation as Overview, limited to the current Sales filters).
  • Commission: Total commission earned from confirmed referrals in the selected period (same calculation as Overview, limited to the current Sales filters).

5. Important Rules to Remember

  • Confirmed referrals only: Referrals, sales, and commission on these reports count confirmed referrals in the date range, not pending or reversed referrals.
  • Overview vs Sales: Overview is the whole program for the date range. Sales totals follow the filters you set on that tab.
  • New-customer mix: Overview New customer share is new-customer sales ÷ sales. Sales 1st-time customers is first-time customers ÷ referrals. In the Sales table, 1st-time customer is the same ratio rounded to a whole number.
  • Payout vs commission: Commission is what affiliates earned from confirmed referrals in the range. Payout is what you paid in that range, which can include earlier periods.
  • ⚠️ CSV selection: Export to CSV includes only the affiliates you selected. Use Select all when you need everyone who matches the current filters, not only the current page. See How to export affiliate data.
